Arcadia Library Lecture: Looking at Ardrossan Through the Archives

Wednesday, October 30,
6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. EST

Based on his book Ardrossan: The Last Great Estate on the Philadelphia Main Line (2017), David Nelson Wren offers a unique and fascinating chronicle of the history and art collection of Ardrossan, and life with the Montgomery family during a different day and age. This iconic, early-twentieth-century estate is intrinsically tied to the PMA. Wren's talk and book are vividly brought into full focus by family letters and photographs, some of which are now in the museum archives.

About the speaker:

David Nelson Wren is a writer, bibliophile and lifelong storyteller. He has been an investigative newspaper reporter, editor and features writer. For eight years, he was a popular weekly columnist with the Ithaca Journal in Ithaca, NY. Wren is the author of Ardrossan: The Last Great Estate on the Philadelphia Main Line (2017), which Architectural Digest called “rich and exhaustively researched.” Currently, he lives at Ardrossan where he is the house historian. Wren also serves on the board of The Willows Park Preserve in Radnor Township.

The book Ardrossan: The Last Great Estate on the Philadelphia Main Line will be available for purchase and signing by the author, following the talk.

A trolley will be available to shuttle guests between the Museum garage and the Perelman building.
